You Know what Surya Did, But Have you Understood - Suicide Prevention Week :)

 

Starting on with a positive note, we all are blessed to be born on earth..


We have this feeling of being useless, or having not been born for the sake of what is happening at that particular moment in life. But let me tell you, life is a bundle of all those moments. This blog is not going to be a class or an advice that you daily hear when you share your feelings with loved ones. This is going to be on the basis of life experiences and study on human behaviour over a particular period of time. 


Getting depressed :


Today in this age of social media and exposure to a lot of things, there are a lot of reasons one could get depressed. A simple thing like “ She gets more likes than me “ or “ He knows something that I don’t know “ can make you feel inferior and lose yourself to the situation once and forever.



Apart from that Love could be the predominant reason a youngster gets depressed in recent times. I know what it makes you feel to lose a loved one or be broken by a loved one. My quest in finding a solution to get rid of that circle I was trapped in, lead me to reach places I have never been.


How it feels to be in Depression :


Depression has many emotional and psychological breakdowns but most of it seems to be like we are going on and on into the same cycle of patterns ( mouse in wheel ). We try to escape the cycle through one door and end of getting into the same place through another door. Eventually most of them get stuck In the play for years and get used to it, thus showing no symptoms of being depressed for a naked eye.

The COGNITIVE TRIANGLE - This is a triangle with which we do our day to day activities, so if one could associate this triangle in life, they can master the mind and get out of the limbo that they are stuck in.

See if you can associate this, you ' THINK '  about doing something then end up ' DOING ' something and thus you ' FEEL ' why did I do that. Now if you see, these three are connected with each other. 


Let me explain with an example, A person gets rejected or broke-up makes him feel something about himself and thus he does something or never does something. Most of the cases the one that thinks he is bold enough and he can do whatever he wants, either ends up destroying the people he was once attracted to or ends in destroying oneself in very many ways. In other cases the person ends doing nothing and feels inferior about oneself more and more and finally gets killed in his own hands.

So you can see this is in either way, since a Triangle has  no particular starting and ending point it can be started from any point to end up finishing the triangle like, 


You broke up (Action) - you feel bad about it (Emotion) - you get stuck with the same thought (Thought) - Thus the path goes on and on like a circle.


You think bad about yourself (Thought) - You end up doing nothing to change it (Action) - You feel inferior and dejected (Emotion) - This circle goes on till you do something to change.



Take control on what you can control :


So now that we understand these three are interlinked, you need to take control of one of these to control the rest of the two. The easiest way out is to control your actions. Experts say action has the greatest power among these three to control and make you feel the difference.

For a while break the stigma and start doing something different that you love. Remember to start with the things you always wished to do and not had time so pushed on for years, this is the right time it has been waiting for. Just start doing it now.


You start with doing what you wish to do will get you interested in bringing back concentration. Since it's a new thing you are doing your mind will focus and think about it and when you get positive results you get motivated. I know when in depression if you fail to do succeed even in smallest of the matters like finding a place in google or trying to take a beautiful picture it will affect you and feel low of yourself, so don't worry about the initial practices keep going and you will eventually feel the progress. That's why you need to do what you always wanted to do.

Remember the classic Vaaranam Ayiram, yes what Surya did finally was the right thing that inspires many and the psychological reason behind it was this cognitive thinking. He finally did what he loved to do, He made a travel, Did things he never did and succeeded in it thus felt the difference.

But we are not in a movie to fight terrorists in Kashmir, so choose the simplest way possible. 

Head to the Gym, make yourself fit. Why gym is because that will give you instant results and you could feel better when you see changes in your appearance. Most of us get the feeling that we are not so good looking, as soon as we get rejected so change your appearance for the good and you will feel confident. 


There are also many other things for others to do, Travel is the best medicine, But just traveling with the same thoughts won’t work, so go out in group trekking for example with people you don’t know. Make new friends. Few others can get that driving class that you always wished to join or start learning an instrument that you always wanted to learn.

Remember to Break The Chain: 


Remember what Chidambaram was taught at the end in Asuran, get educated and move to a powerful place but DON’T DO WHAT THEY DID TO US. This is important, Never decide on doing something that might harm others or harm yourself when you get depressed.

Since the Triangle works good for anything, it works perfect for evilness too. So Killing someone or Destroying yourself is of no good to the future. You never have to do anything to others, what happened to you. That includes getting into an uncommitted relationship too.


As soon as we break-up or get rejected, we look for someone else to fill the void. But that is not going to help in the big future in most of the cases. At last you end destroying the other one who is true and this chain will go on so remember to 


" Break The Chain"   



Stay Good.. Stay Positive.. You take control of your life and you will feel the progressive difference for sure.
